2013 have been a great year for me as a passionate landscape photographer. To be able to capture some of the most beautiful landscape at its best time is really inspiring me to keep on going. In landscape photography, weather is one of the most frustrating aspects it doesn’t even have to come down to rain or shine, but just a small amount of clouds in the right place at the right time of day can make for an amazing sunset and then those same clouds in the wrong place at that very same moment can make for a complete non-sunset.
In this case, the clouds was at the wrong place! Well, that’s one of the risk in landscape photography. Sometimes it turns out good, sometimes not. You just have to take the risk!

Assalamualaikum and good evening everyone! Happy new year 2013! Here’s my first blog post, another photo from monsoon seascape hunting with super friends on last December. This shot is taken at Kemasik, a perfect place for seascape lover like myself. As we all know, on monsoon season the waves were pretty strong. If you look at the water here, I only used a 5 seconds of exposure is enough to make the water look kinda dreamy. If you use long exposure that too long for example like 30 seconds or more, you will make the water look really white and for me I just don’t like it.
So remember, if the waves were strong a shutter speed around 5 seconds to 15 seconds is enough to blur out all the water. Nevertheless, it still depend on yourself, because its your photo you decide how you want it to be! The most important thing is, enjoy the moment! 🙂

Assalamualaikum wr wbt and good evening everyone! Here’s my next photo from my recent short trip to Terengganu. We still at ‘Mordor’ or Kemasik beach. It’s a great morning although it was raining. We were shooting on the rain. Lucky I have some cloth to cover up the camera. It’s monsoon season now in the east cost. The waves is really killing it. Just a perfect time to play with slow shutter shot like this one.
This is a single RAW shot taken with Singh-Ray 3 stop reverse graduated neutral density filter. Processed using Canon Digital Photo Professional and then transferred to Photoshop. Basic editing like adjusting the brightness/contrast, levels, curves in order to recover some of the highlight in this image and to bring out more details.

Assalamualaikum and good evening everyone! Just got back from Terengganu yesterday. Went there for monsoon seascape hunting just for one day. Four of us, me, Kamrul, Khasif and Born we leave KL on Saturday night around 10 pm. It took about 3 hours or more o reach Terengganu. We arrived about 1.30 am, a bit early from we expected. So we decided to do some recce on the shooting location. The swell was huge on the that night. I remember we stood on star cruise jetty near Kijal, the stone jetty was stone made and the huge swell crushing the jetty and makes it shaky. It was pretty scary but alhamdulillah everything is ok.
After done with recce the spot, we head to the near mosque to get some rest while waiting for Subuh prayer. It was raining on and off until we arrived back at the shooting location at 6am. It was raining quite heavy we all wait in the car hoping that the rain will stopped. Alhamdulillah, there is a yellow light from the sun rising up just above the horizon and few minutes after the rain stopped. But after about 10 minutes later, the rain falling down again and again few minutes after it stopped. It’s been like that until we finished shooting at about 9.30am. The monsoon season really makes the tide became huge and the waves is huge.
Thanks to Dr Yusri, a friend from Dungun for sharing this awesome location! This place definitely a beauty! Surely gonna revisit again soon. 🙂
I took this shot with Canon EOS 450D which I borrowed from my brother in law, because my camera is still in the hospital. Although its and old model of entry level camera from Canon, it still doing its job pretty well. Camera is just a tool, with the right technique and skills you can produce a great image. Thanks Abe Zul bagi pinjam body camera ni. 🙂

Hello everyone! Very good morning to all of you. Another shot from ‘The University’ of Pandak beach, this time its in monochrome vision. Due to the sunrise which last around 5 minutes or less, I had to go for dreamy long exposure and converted in to black and white shot. Beside, the rocky surface around this spot that is so interesting makes it look even better in mono! Hope you guys like it. Sorry for slow posting, trying to catch up very soon! Assalamualaikum and good evening everyone. Here’s another slow shutter shot from Teluk Lipat, Dungun. As I mention in my previous post I had a great time playing with the waves here! This place is fantastic! It was a simple outing with Doc Yusri and Fahmi, they are my friends from Facebook. I have met a lot of friend with same passion and hobby in the social networking site.
About this shot, as always it was created from single Raw shot on my camera. I use a 3 stops graduated neutral density filter along with 3 stop full neutral density filter for this shot. The GND is to balance the brightness in the sky part with the foreground and the full ND is to allow me to use the right shutter speed to get the motion of the waves.
On the processing part, I cleaned the Raw shot in Digital Photo Professional, and then the shot was transferred into Photoshop. In Ps, I did minor of basics adjustment like adjusting the brightness/contrast, increasing the saturation in certain part and I use dodging tools to increased the whiteness of the waves. Of course I did some high-pass sharpening.

Assalamualaikum and good evening everyone! Another shot from my Terengganu short visit. It was taken earlier then ‘Earth Meets Ocean‘ shot. It takes me few attempt to get the perfect movement of the waves falling down from the rock. I got hit the waves few times but luckily my entry level camera was covered by the 4×6 neutral density graduated filter! Sometimes you just got to get wet to get the perfect shot!
