Kelanang’s Story – The Beauty in Sorrow

Assalamualakum and good evening everyone. Hope you guys having a great Saturday yeah. Here’s my new upload and again, it was from Pantai Kelanang, Banting. This shot was taken earlier on January this year, on a sunset outing with few friends. If I’m not mistaken it was my first sunset hunting on 2012. But not much of a luck on that day as it was cloudy and dark clouds were all over the place. So I were only able to play with long exposures like this shot.

I love the roots position here which make it perfect for dreamy feel. A shutter speed of 90 seconds proves it. It looks very dreamy and mystical. :)

Tech spech: This is a single shot which I took in RAW as always. I used a 3 stops GND, a 10 stops ND filter and a Circular Polarizer for this shot. On the post-processing, I did few tweaks to give it some ‘sorrow’ mood on the top part of the image like reducing the brighness, playing with saturation. adjusting the contrast, some dodging and burning and of course, sharpening and reducing the noise for few times. This is because of the long exposures of 90 seconds, my so called entry level camera cannot stand the heat and produce so many hot pixels. :P

The Setup & Settings:

  • Camera : CANON EOS 500D + CANON EF-S 10-22MM F/3.5-4.5 USM + Remote Shutter
  • Filters : Lee .9s ND Grad + Lee Big Stopper + Lee 105MM Circular Polarizer
  • Camera Settings : RAW | ISO 200 | ƒ8 | 90 Secs

Kelanang’s Story – Rays of Hope

Assalamualaikum and good evening everyone. This is my latest shot from my fourth visit to Kelanang beach, Banting. It was a nice outing with few friends from facebook and alhamdulillah, praises to Allah. We were blessed with a beautiful sunset! As I remember everyone was like rushing to get the shot as the sun setting in front of us. It was fun. :)

This is single shot taken with 3 stops Graduated Neutral filter to balance the bright sky with my foreground, a 10 stops Neutral Density filter to give me more longer exposures and a Circular Polarizer to saturate the colors. I did minor post-processing like increasing/reducing brightness, sharpening and some noise removal.

The Setup & Settings:

  • Camera : CANON EOS 500D + CANON EF-S 10-22MM F/3.5-4.5 USM + Remote Shutter
  • Filters : Lee .9s ND Grad + Lee Big Stopper + Lee 105MM Circular Polarizer
  • Camera Settings : RAW | ISO 200 | ƒ8 | 50 Secs

Kelanang’s Story – Cast Away

Assalamualaikum and hello everyone. This shot was taken somewhere around November last year and it was my second visit to Kelanang. I was there with Shazral and Fakhrul T. for sunset hunting as usual. But again, the sun playing hide and seek behind those thick clouds. Nevertheless, the tide is just nice for me to play with slow shutter speed.

This is a single shot taken with 3 stops Gnd and a Circular Polarizer. As you can see, all those mangrove trees make it harder to composed a nice clean shot. This is what I’ve been telling in my previous post of the Kelanang beach. :)

The Setup & Settings:

  • Camera : CANON EOS 500D + CANON EF-S 10-22MM F/3.5-4.5 USM + Remote Shutter
  • Filters : Hitech .9s ND Grad + Lee 105MM Circular Polarizer
  • Camera Settings : RAW | ISO 100 | ƒ7.1 | 0.6 Secs

Kelanang’s Story – The Old Roots

Assalamualaikum and hello everyone. This is my latest shot which was taken at Pantai Kelanang, Banting. As I was saying in my old post, this place is the real deal for landscape photographers to challenge themselves in composition. This is because the natural surface here is full with mangrove trees which make its difficult to compose a clean shot. The trees will always be in front of the camera. So what are you waiting for? Go there and challenge yourself! :D

About the shot, it was a long exposure of 90 seconds and I used Lee 10 stops ND filter a.k.a the big stopper to cut out the bright light along with 3 stops ND Grad to balance the sky. Editing are done with Photoshop and Nik Silver Efex Pro 2.

Hope everyone likes it. Enjoy your weekend yeah!

The Setup & Settings:

  • Camera : CANON EOS 500D + CANON EF-S 10-22MM F/3.5-4.5 USM + Remote Shutter
  • Filters : Lee Big Stopper + Lee .9s ND Grad
  • Camera Settings : RAW | ISO 200 | ƒ8 | 90 Secs

Dreamy Dusk

Hello everyone! How’s your Sunday going? Hope doing great yeah. I’m enjoying my Sunday editing another photo from recent Port Dickson visit. It’s called ‘Dreamy Dusk Sunset’. This is because the long exposures effect make the waters looks very dreamy. It’s quite dark at the time I take this shot so I used only two ND Grad filters and a 30 seconds exposures is enough to blur out the water.

The Setup & Settings:

  • Camera : CANON EOS 500D + CANON EF-S 10-22MM F/3.5-4.5 USM + Remote Shutter
  • Filters : Lee .9s ND Grad + Lee .6s ND Grad
  • Camera Settings : RAW | ISO 100  | ƒ9 | 30 Secs

Dream Pool

Hello everyone, this is my new upload from recent shooting. I used a long exposure of 70 seconds here to blur out the water to give it a dreamy feel. More pictures to come! Stay tune!

The Setup & Settings:

  • Camera : CANON EOS 500D + CANON EF-S 10-22MM F/3.5-4.5 USM + Remote Shutter

  • Camera Settings : RAW | ISO 200  | ƒ8 | 70 Secs

Empty Soul

Hello everyone .. Another photo from recent visit to Pasir Panjang, PD. This spot is really great to play with long exposures because there’s so many foreground interest can be found here and one of them is this red rock with little foliage on it. Too bad the sunset was not so glorious on that evening. Surely I’ll be back to this place.

The Setup & Settings:

  • Camera : CANON EOS 500D + CANON EF-S 10-22MM F/3.5-4.5 USM + Remote Shutter
  • Filters : Hitech .9s ND Grad + Hitech .6s ND Grad + LEE 105MM Circular Polarizer
