Exquisite Sunset at The Restaurant

Assalamualaikum and good evening everyone! Hope you guys had a great day today and I’m wishing to all muslims early Salam Jumaat. Just came back from holiday in my hometown Kedah, I had great time there shooting with friends.

Ok enough about that, so this is the photo I was so excited to upload. It was taken a few days before Aidiladha, I asked my fellow ‘partner in crime’, Shazral to go for a sunset shooting somewhere near Shah Alam because both of us worked around there. A day before that we also went for sunset shooting in Pantai Remis, but no luck because the sunset is hiding behind thick clouds and that’s why I asked Shazral for repeat. This spot crossed on my mind because I’ve seen Vedd Edd photo from this place and it was amazing.

About the shot, it was taken with Daryl Benson Reverse Neutral Density Graduated Filter 3 stops along with Lee 105mm Circular Polarizer. I took 3 different exposures, one for the sky, one for the restaurant and the last one is for the reflection. All 3 exposures were manually blended in photoshop. No HDR involved and this is the result! 🙂

Burning Paradise

Hey guys! Another sunset shot from Tanjung Aru, Kota Kinabalu, Sabah. Still got few remaining pictures from the Sabah Photo Tour on April to be uploaded. Check out this burning sunset! It was really beautiful at this time. Subhan’Allah. It’s like a burning paradise! Anyway, I would call this my kind of paradise! 🙂

This is a vertorama image created from two raw shots. One for the sky part and the other one for the bottom part. Strictly no HDR, both exposures were manually blended in photoshop. Wondrous Jeram

It’s been almost three weeks without shooting for me since Ramadhan started. This photo was taken before fasting month, I miss to be out there again, but Aidilfitri is approaching so I’ll postponed the shooting afterward. My Raya mood is on now. 😀

About the technical spec, this is a Digital Blending work consist of two exposures ; one for the upper & one for the lower part. Both exposure were manually blended in Photoshop and then I do basic adjustments like increasing saturation, adjusting levels/curves/brightness – I do the adjustment with masking technique. Then I sharpened it few times at certain part and after that I reduce some noise. Oh, I also do the lens correction in LR3 and that’s about it!

Weekend has almost come to the end now, so I wish everyone Happy Monday Blues for tomorrow! 😀

Encountering Jeram

Hey guys! Here’s my closest encounter with Jeram spray on that day taken on different angle. Yes, I do got wet a little by this waves. Luckily my so-not-weather-seal lens was covered by 4×6 nd grad filter. I guess nd grad not just for balancing the sky, also it can protect your lens from salt spray! 😛

As for this shot, I use the same technique like the previous post, which is Digital Blending. Two exposures shot, one for the sky and one for the waves. Both were manually blended in Photoshop.

Jumping Waves

Hey guys, this is my third picture from recent Jeram visit. Like I said in previous post, the tide was high and the waves are just crazy. So here’s the proof, the waves jumping right in front on me. Luckily, not hitting my camera. But me, already wet! 😛

Sometimes it is necessary to get wet, to get a good shot. 🙂

Skyline Sunset

I always wonder, when I’m going to see a skyline sunset. Yesterday was the answer. SubhanAllah, I have seen a beautiful skyline sunset at Pantai Murni, Yan, Kedah.

Actually this is a trip to waterfalls (Reakreasi Batu Hampar) with some friends. After almost 3 hours of swimming bath we decide to drop by at this place. It was low tide, quite disappointed at first. Then I see some old woods (maybe an old jetty) that is quite interesting, lining-up straight to the horizon. I decide to composed them in the center of my shot as the sunset was directly behind the old jetty.

This is a vertorama consist of two different exposures. I used Hoya HD Circular Polarizer to deepen the colors along with some ND Grad filter to darken the sky. Post-processing have been done in CS3.

Thank you Allah, for giving me the opportunity to enjoy this breathtaking moment..

It was heavy rain but I still decided to join an outing at Pulau Sayak, Kedah with some friends from Penang. When arriving to the location, it was still raining. Quite frustrated at first but after an hour of waiting, around 19:40 the rain stops and the beautiful light start to come out. It was really exciting at that time..

Dreamy Sunset of Teluk Bayu

A simple outing with Keris Tuah at Teluk Bayu, Pulau Pinang, Malaysia.

Thank you to bro Keris Tuah, for making every effort to show me few good spots to do landscape activities around Bayan Lepas. Also for the treatment at the Pattani restaurant. I really appreciate your kindness bro 🙂

Details: Digital blending of 3 exposures, one for the sky, one for the rocks and the last one for the blue sky. The reason I take few exposures is, I don’t want the rocks to be in shadow when facing my camera. I only take multiple exposures when I need to.

Low tide Sunset

Just found another great spot for landscape activities back in my hometown..It was located at Kampung Sungai Kuar Jawa, Kedah.

Tech spech: A vertorama of 2 exposures, both shot in Aperture-Priority Mode. One for the sky (1/13s at ƒ/14) and one for the foreground ((0.6s at ƒ/14). Both exposure were manually blended in Photoshop CS3. After that, I do some basic adjustments and little touch-up like increasing levels and saturation, dodging and burning, and few sharpenings to increase the dynamic range.

P/s: Surely that I will be visiting this spot again when the tide is high!

Teluk Bahang Dam, Penang

A view of Teluk Bahang Dam and it’s walkway. Actually this shot was taken around sunset hour, as you can see the sun is setting down behind those hills.

Tech spech: 3 shots of bracketed exposures taken in Aperture-Priority mode at F13 ISO100. I do some minor adjustment in DPP and then all three exposures were transfered to Ps. Each of the exposures were combined together and manually blended. After that, I do a fews tweaking like adjusting the levels, increasing the brightness on certain areas, some dodging and burning, increasing the saturation, and few sharpenings to increase the dynamic range of the photo. Oh, finally as usual the last step is the watermarking! 😀
